Testimonials
I’ve always wanted to do something for society, so when I got this opportunity, without a doubt, I wanted to go for it. I absolutely loved teaching the kids and the words “Teacher .. Teacher” were so pleasing to my ears! Interacting with these innocent and pure souls was a delight. I feel it is I who learnt more than the kids - on how to be empathetic and grounded. Teaching the kids has given me a sense of accomplishment and I have learnt to find joy in little things.

Volunteering has been the best life coach, in that it has taught me what the need of the hour is. Everyone is deprived of some necessity and just wants to be accepted somewhere, without prerequisites. Deprivation is also something I define differently now that I know what my education could teach me. Coupled with the privilege that I have - a sense of purpose from God, supportive family, friends and mentors at Vision Rescue & The Movement India, this learning through volunteering has been unstoppable for me.

I’ve been volunteering in this Mandala slum community for two years now. Last year (2018) we conducted a survey here to find out which children were in need of education. Now after Vision Rescue began the Beacon Learning Centre for these children here, I volunteer at the Centre doing craft, art, games, to encourage the children to keep studying and growing. This place has shown me how much people fight for their basic rights. And sometimes the only way to help them out is to actually come here and serve them. That’s why I’m here.
