Empowering people to find their purpose, enjoy their rights, and live with dignity.
65 million people in India live in slum communities of which 5.2million are in Mumbai itself, this as of India’s last census in 2010. Furthermore, in the poorest of these slums, every second child below the age of 6 is malnourished and 7 out of 10 girls drop out after Class 7.
Consequently, for these slum children, illiteracy, malnutrition and neglect combine to physical and mental growth leaving them even more vulnerable and at-risk for exploitation.
We, at Vision Rescue, engage children in education through five initiatives that take place in some of the poverty-stricken communities in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
To rescue children from all forms of exploitation by engaging and sustaining them in education, Vision Rescue operates in a two-fold Community Intervention Program model. Firstly, focusing on providing key services to engage children in education and secondly, to provide support services for the child, their family and their community.
We engage children in education through five programs conducted via Learning Centres within some of Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai’s poorest slum communities.
To sustain them in education, we also work closely with their families & communities at Community Service Centres – stationary hubs within slum communities where our Beacon Learning Centres are operational managed by Community Managers and Case Officers, all qualified social workers.
