“I want to be a teacher when I grow up,” says Tanu*, a 6-year-old girl who attends the Senior KG at BLC. Tanu lives with her family in an overcrowded slum community. Their small rented home, just one room, has a kachha floor and lacks a proper bathroom or toilet. Her father works as a daily wage labourer, while her mother is a housewife. The family’s economic struggles weigh heavily on them. Despite these challenges, Tanu brings joy to her family with her bright smile and curious spirit.
Tanu’s journey took a turn when her family encountered a Vision Rescue intern during an outreach program. In 2022, Tanu was enrolled in Nursery at BLC, stepping into a new world where learning and laughter filled the air. At BLC, she received a school kit filled with necessities she had never dreamed of – a lunch box, bag, sandals, uniform, and even a raincoat.
Tanu’s mother attended FGMs, where she learned about various topics, from good parenting to awareness of government schemes for education. These meetings empowered her to make informed decisions about her children’s education and well-being. We are grateful to you, dear donors. Your generous support has changed the lives of children like Tanu and their families.
