Sultan is just three years old, but he’s wise for his age. At Vision Rescue’s nursery, he learnt that gambling was wrong and guess what he does when he sees kids playing cards on the streets of his slum community? He tells them it’s wrong too! He even brings his family’s VR community worker so that she can convince them it’s dangerous as well.
That’s the force of change Sultan has become only because you gifted him an education.
When Sultan first came to school though, he hated it. He used to bunk classes often and even escape back home. Over time and much counselling, Sultan’s community worker and teacher won his trust. He comes to school regularly now and is a quick learner too.
Sultan’s mother Rubina sells fruits for a living according to their season. Sultan has two younger siblings, and Rubina’s hands are full with the home, her job and three kids, yet she took on the role of Community Champion for Vision Rescue.
With her toddler in tow and her baby on her hip, Rubina speaks to women in her community convincing them to send their kids to school. If anyone in her community is ill, she immediately refers them to our medical team too.
Once, Rubina saw a few of her community’s children get caught by the police for begging on the streets. One of the children was handicapped. Rubina immediately alerted Vision Rescue’s team in their slum community, and together, we were able to get the children released.
Rubina and her husband are illiterate, but they’re determined their children will lead better lives than theirs. Thank You for believing in them, and making their dreams come true!
