Little did Mallauma know that her life was taking a different turn than what she had dreamed of, on the day she was getting married. Mallauma found herself being beaten up by her husband after he got drunk everyday. Unable to bear the pain anymore, she decided to leave and go back to her parents. But very soon she realized she was carrying their baby.

Completely hopeless and shattered, she wondered how she would survive. She herself was dependent on her parents and now there comes another life for which she would be single handedly responsible. Mallauma soon had a baby girl and named her Priya- meaning ‘loved one’.

Looking after Priya and providing for her was a struggle for Mallauma along with joy. But she was blessed to know about Vision Rescue’s Beacon Learning Centre, where she enrolled Priya from the age of 3 for education in English medium. Priya has been part of Beacon Learning Centre for 3 years now, beginning from Nursery. She has now graduated from Senior Kindergarten and will enter Primary.

When Priya initially joined the Vision Rescue family she was found to be malnourished by the medical team that looks after the healthcare of all the children. Priya was referred to a nutritionist who has helped her family to manage her nutrition and growth.

Mallauma remarried a year ago and now is glad she has help and support in raising up her daughter and is grateful for Vision Rescue’s presence and support for her and her family.

Thank you for being the light in the tunnel for children like Priya with your sacrificial support and partnership. Your seemingly little can go a long way to change the course of life for somebody else!
