Our COVID-19 focus is on 3 aspects :
Hunger Crisis
Disrupting Education
Healthcare Infrastructure
The Challenge : Strengthening healthcare infrastructure
- India recorded over 4 Lakh deaths due to the coronavirus. The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in particular left a trail of devastation as a result of overwhelming load on healthcare infrastructure. This was worsened by a critical shortage of access to oxygen cylinders. Covid-19 hospital and institutions in Mumbai struggled to cope with the rising case load, and it was the vulnerable and poor who struggled to access timely treatment.
- Moreover, members of slum communities showed vaccine hesitancy due to misinformation and fake news spread about the coronavirus, its symptoms, treatments and the side-effects of the vaccines available. These factors acerbated poor communities’ access to timely and life-saving healthcare.
