Chetan is 13 years old and a part of our cricket team. We met him last year when he was roaming the streets with a group of boys near our cricket ground. Young boys can often get into trouble when in gangs like this, so we wanted to direct his attention to something more rewarding and constructive.
We found that he lived only with his grandmother and together they would sell water and soda on the streets for income.
He had no interest in studying and rarely went to school but our cricket practices caught his interest.
Chetan’s skills have been gradually improving and he is particularly good at bowling.
He attends cricket practice regularly and had really become part of the team.
We hope to send him to the MCA summer coaching camp this year so that he can get some focused coaching and develop his abilities even further.
