In the slum communities that Vision Rescue works in, the average income of its residents has decreased by as much as 47% due to the pandemic.
Things went from bad to worse when earning family members started losing their jobs due to the nationwide lockdowns.
In this time, Vision Rescue continued to empower the mothers and elder sisters of our children with vocational training courses. We switched from face-to-face classes to training women online – through videos and voice notes, during the pandemic. Over 140 women are currently enrolled in six courses with us such as Mehendi design, hand embroidery, fabric bag making, bookbinding, paper embroidery & paper quilling.
How does this benefit their family?
Besides picking up an employable skill, many of the women join Self Help Groups that then take on business orders for products. The proceeds from these sales go directly to the women and improve their financial stability.
One of the orders our graduates recently completed was for 4770 paper bags and 1800 bracelets! Such a joy to see them learn, earn and grow.
Thank you for your support to empower these women, and for helping them sustain their children in education.
