Beacon Learning Centers
With the new academic year 2022-23 starting, we are all set to enroll children into our Beacon Learning Centers across four slum communities in Mumbai!
The slum communities that we work in are often deprived of basic facilities such as accessible, quality education. The nearest municipal schools are often at a far distance from the communities, resulting in parents being reluctant to send their children walking alone to classes, or simply unable to afford safe, daily transportation to the nearest school. Additionally, a lack of proper personal identification documents acts as one more barrier to education.
For these reasons, many children remain out of school.
Through your partnership, Vision Rescue’s Beacon Learning Centers can provide quality education free of cost in four slum communities across Mumbai: Kalwa, Shivaji Nagar, Maharashtra Nagar and Mandala.
Over 750 children enrolled in just three days for the new academic year!
More than 30 volunteers from Valia College, IBS College and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies who were led by The Movement India helped our staff with the admission process.
“It’s been a month of volunteering with Vision Rescue for their Summer and now for the Mission Admission. The parents here have been co-operating really well with us and they’re excited to see their children get educated and grow in life,” says a Volunteer from the Kalwa slum community.
Thank you for your gifts that enable us to open the doors of education for these children for your gifts that enable us to open the doors of education for these children.
And, we are so excited to welcome these precious ones into our Beacon Learning Centres this new academic year!
