What you’re witnessing are Vision Rescue’s Community Interns & Education Interns deep in conversation about the ‘Basics of MENTAL HEALTH’ ! For most of these young women, residents of the slum communities of Shivaji Nagar & Maharashtra Nagar, in M-East Ward Mumbai, open conversations about mental health are a rarity.

❣️But thanks to these special sessions by our volunteer counsellors, provided by The Movement India @themovementind , these 22 women get to address all that’s going on in their minds! The volunteer counsellors are students of psychology at @st-xaviers-college-mumbai St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and have been volunteering their skills and time generously for the benefit of Vision Rescue’s beneficiaries for many months now.

Through these sessions, NGO Vision Rescue’s Interns got to learn about:

– the difference between physical health and mental health

– the various components of mental health such as Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Occupational, Intellectual etc

– the difference between mental health and Mental Illness

– common mental health disorders

– what is therapy & counselling?

– habits to improve mental health.

We hope and plan to have many more such sessions, both as groups and in person with these and other Interns at Vision Rescue, so that as they work for the upliftment of their slum communities, they also learn to take care of their mental health too!

❣️We thank you dear volunteers for always Reaching out with Love !
