It’s been 1.5 years of the pandemic, and in our slum communities, that’s meant a hard stop to our routine face-to-face health camp and pediatric camps.

But finally, after a long wait, WE’RE BACK ON THE GROUND! And we’ve successfully completed health camps and pediatric camps in our four Mumbai slum communities at Kalwa, MaharashtraNagar ShivajiNagar, and Mandala.

During the pandemic, these slum communities struggled to meet their basic healthcare needs. Many lack the basic documentation they need to be accepted into subsided treatment at municipal facilities. Others are illiterate and unable to process their own documentation. Access to quality, affordable healthcare is a desperate need among thousands of families in these slum communities.

To meet this challenge, Vision Rescue has routinely run free medical and pediatric camps in our target slum communities. This time too, we were able to bring in pediatricians and physicians from our network hospitals such as Nair Hospital, Sion Hospital, Shatabdi Hospital, and even bring in medical students from the Rotaract Club of Caduceus and Rotaract Club of Medicrew. We thank each of these network institutions for their selfless service.

Over 400 adults and children have benefited from these camps in the last two months!

Diabetes, viral fever, tuberculosis, thyroid dysfunction, diarrhea, skin diseases, hypertension, common cold, etc. were some of the ailments that were diagnosed and treated.

At Vision Rescue, we prioritize healthcare services for our children and their families because we’ve seen how illness can impact children’s education. Untreated diseases lead to children missing classes for weeks, and steep medical expenses often lead to children being pulled out of school.

We thank each of you in the Vision Rescue community for all the efforts you take to provide quality healthcare to our children, their families, and the slum communities. Here’s to hundreds of more children successfully sustaining in their education!
