Vision Rescue’s dental health program focuses on oral health through screenings, camps, and awareness sessions, collaborating with dental colleges and NGOs. We conduct screenings twice a year, offer dental camps with follow-ups, and organize fluoridation programs, all contributing to improved oral hygiene and well-being.

Good dental health is crucial for well-being, especially among young children. Proper oral care improves speech development and helps children concentrate and attend school regularly.

Towards this end Vision Rescue conducted dental screenings both at our Beacon Learning Centres and School Support Program municipal schools in the months of July and August 2023. 39 volunteers from VESCOP (VES College of Pharmacy) and Chetana College actively participated in the BLC and SSP programs.

Dr. Reena Thomas, the Chief Mentor for Dental Care support, says, “We protect your teeth. Better teeth for better health. Shiny teeth brighten your life”.

Dental Health for BLC Students

Beacon Learning Center (BLC) supports children aged 3 to 8, primarily focusing on Early Childhood Education. BLC acts as a bridge, filling the educational gaps in underserved slum communities. Beyond academics, we understand the crucial role of good dental health, promoting proper oral care to enhance speech development and foster regular school attendance among these young learners.

In August, we conducted dental screenings for 2,623 Beacon Learning Center (BLC) students, ensuring their oral well-being and detecting potential issues like gum infections early.

Our monthly dental awareness programs reached 1,606 BLC children, creating awareness about the importance of proper brushing techniques, how to prevent dental issues, improve oral health, and ensure attendance of every child in the VR education program at these sessions.

Our fluoridation program ensured the well-being of 451 students’ smiles by strengthening tooth surfaces and preventing cavities. This painless dental care initiative followed oral screenings for the best results. At BLC, we’re devoted to fostering bright minds and radiant smiles!

Dental Health for SSP Students

Vision Rescue’s School Support Program (SSP) helps students between the ages of 10 and 14, specifically targeting those at risk of dropping out of formal school. SSP collaborates closely with municipal schools, offering various support services, including resource building, teacher’s training, sports coaching and more. The primary goal of these initiatives is to motivate children to engage in their education within these schools regularly.

Dental camps were conducted at MNBMC, screening 2,125 students to identify dental issues affecting their teeth and gums. This assessment aimed to plan suitable treatment strategies and enhance the students’ overall dental health and hygiene, subsequently promoting improved attendance and well-being in school.

Dental awareness programs were organized at MNBMC, where 1,404 students participated. The primary objective of this awareness program was to educate children on proper brushing techniques, imparting valuable knowledge to promote better oral hygiene practices.
