Twelve years ago, Mohinuddin Mohammed got into a fight and was stabbed. He was wounded so severely that he had to sell his house in Dongri to pay for the treatment. His wife Akhlima and children Minaj, Fiza and Mehboob were left homeless and Mohinuddin never returned to a full-time job. He slipped into alcoholism and smoking, sometimes stooping to domestic abuse.
In June this year, we met Ayan, Mohinuddin’s youngest child. He was roaming the streets of the Kalwa slum community, where the family had made their new home over a decade ago.
Ayan joined our junior kindergarten class and received a school bag and uniforms, a nutritious meal each day, dental workups and a health checkup because you chose to support his upliftment.

Ayan enjoys running, singing and learning English in class and he wants to grow up and teach other children!

Ayan’s mother Akhlima became a community champion with Vision Rescue, eagerly participating in the health camps and encouraging her community to educate their children. Alkima even encouraged her 16-year-old daughter Fiza to join our vocational training course.

Fiza then successfully completed our mehendi design, hair-styling and self-defence courses!

Earlier in the year, Mehboob, the third child in the family, was unable to attend his government school classes regularly as he had a health issue. Our medical team referred him to a hospital where he was treated and equipped to return to his education.

Your support also enabled our community worker to counsel Mohinuddin and encourage him to find a full-time job.

Today, he runs his own chicken shop in the slum community and is able to support his family financially.

You generous giving has impacted every member of Mohinuddin’s family. During the floods last year, you even protected their makeshift house by roofing it with tarpaulins.

Thank You for restoring this family and helping them live with dignity today.
