We’re so proud of Shabnam for pursuing an internship at the prestigious Theobroma Patisserie in Mumbai!
Shabnam is a graduate of Batch 6 from Vision Rescue’s Culinary Training Institute. She hails from the slum community of Mandala, where Vision Rescue works to empower children with education.
She’s the relative of one of our Beacon Learning Centre children, and that’s how she was nominated to join our Kitchen Culinary Skills course
During her time with us, Shabnam quickly learnt to work with all of the professional equipment at the Institute, and also to cook so many different cuisines!
Shabnam’s favourite part was the bakery training, and she eagerly asked questions about each topic we covered. At the industrial visit, conducted in Hotel VITS, Mumbai International Airport, Shabnam interacted very well with the training manager there and even created a project about the visit.
Soon after graduating our course in December 2022, Shabnam was placed at Theobroma Patisserie, and has been working there ever since. Her superiors say she is doing very well, and Shabnam couldn’t be more thrilled with her new job.
Shabnam’s journey from a young woman struggling to make a living in a Mumbai slum, to today working at one of Mumbai’s top bakeries, inspires us to keep going!
