Eira* is the second of six sisters to join Vision Rescue’s Beacon Learning Center (BLC). Ten years ago, the family migrated from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai, hoping for better education and opportunities. Despite their hopes, life in the city wasn’t easy. Their father is a daily wage labourer, earning Rs. 500 on good days, but he often struggles to find work. Supporting a family of eight under these conditions is challenging.
Eira’s older sister was the first to join BLC after their mom heard about the quality of education and resources. Seeing her sister’s progress, her mom thought, “Why not Eira too?” Eira joined BLC in June 2023. Despite being shy, she quickly showed eagerness to learn. Teachers describe her as obedient and curious. Her mother shared with a smile, “She’d come home excited every day, talking about what she learned.”
At BLC, Eira received uniforms, books, nutritious meals, and a safe learning space. She dreams of becoming a police officer. Eira’s mother expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Vision Rescue, for giving my children the chance to study and dream.”
