Nabeel*, just four years old, lives with his family in a small 100 sq ft home in one of Mumbai’s poorest slum areas. His father is a driver who earns Rs. 8,000/—a month, barely enough to meet the needs of their seven-member family. On top of the financial strain, Nabeel’s father struggles with alcohol addiction, which further drains their limited resources.
Life is challenging for Nabeel’s mother. She works tirelessly to ensure her children have what little they can, constantly worrying about meeting their basic needs. “When we couldn’t even afford basic necessities,” she shares, her voice heavy with sadness, “how could we think of sending Nabeel to school?”
But despite this seemingly hopeless situation, a glimmer of hope appeared. In June 2024, Nabeel was enrolled in our BLC program. For a family struggling to make ends meet, it was a lifeline. Nabeel now receives free education, nutritious meals, health checkups, and school supplies—essentials they could never afford. The little boy who once had no dreams now speaks of becoming a doctor.
Nabeel’s journey is still at its beginning, but thanks to Vision Rescue and the generosity of donors like you, his life is already changing.
