A WILL FINDS A WAY

“Meet Shraddha – a star footballer at Vision Rescue Sports Club!

Shraddha was fond of football from childhood, but in vulnerable communities like hers, football for girls wasn’t always encouraged. But Shraddha studies at a municipal school that Vision Rescue networks with, and she was enrolled in our football Sports Club from there in 2017.

Shraddha began football practice sessions with our coaches and she soon learned different tactics in terms of formation, attack, defense, strategy, and approach towards the game of football. She quickly began to play small matches organized by her school. During a school summer camp, Shraddha led her team to second place!

Seeing her and her team’s hard work and determination, the school offered them a chance at another tournament. This time it was the Java Cup!

Shraddha not only contributed to the team’s victory but went on to win the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy!

Shraddha says, “Football has allowed me to play and explore versions of myself that even I wasn’t aware of. Being an introvert, this sport has built confidence in me and made me strong. It also brought out skills such as “leadership” and “teamwork” that were honestly very new for me. It made me stand up for myself. It changed my whole self and made me better as each day passed. No longer do people remember me as the introvert I used to be. Now that I have many friends, my communication skills have changed too.”

We salute Shradda’s parents who never underplayed her dreams but understood her potential and supported her growth from day one.

Shraddha dreams of becoming a professional footballer one day.

“I also want to play for India professionally and be a coach someday. I want to encourage other girls to come out of their shells and play this beautiful and rejuvenating game.”

With more determination than ever before, Shraddha is working towards her goals alongside completing her academics.

Thank you for empowering Shraddha and so many girls like her to pursue their sports dreams!
